Blood Donation Movement

A singular unique achievement of Seth Jai Parkash Mukand Lal Institutions has been the evolving of ‘Blood Donation Culture’ among all the members of the Staff & Students of these Institutions and citizens during the last more than 35 years. It was Principal Prof. Tilak Raj Chadha of Mukand Lal National College, Yamuna Nagar, who first of all initiated Blood Donation way back in 1972, at a time when people were scared of donating even a single drop of blood.

“You are fair to look at; you have a whitish complexion and your skin is dark. But please remember the colour of the blood-the life sustaining force-running in the veins of all of you is red. It has no exception.”

The movement caught the imagination of the teachers and young minds in a big way and today our students have made it a habit to frequently donate blood for the needy. More than a noble and humanitarian deed, it has become a religion for them. They have taken a pledge, “not to let anyone die for want of blood in the area”. By now, every institution has its calendar marked for Blood Donation Mela. It is called ‘Mela’ as it is an occasion for celebration to save a life, according to late Shri Chadha.
